Mingalabar! And thanks for your time. I’m a graduate from Nanyang Polytechnic and Engineer by training. However, I have always imagined myself as a connoisseur and have great passion for food.

2. When did you become the Managing Director of Mobicorn and How did you start it ?

It started about 2 years ago while I was working for Telenor. Started as a food truck as we wanted to introduce the quality snack to the masses. Yangon has interesting scene for street food but most of them lack in good hygiene and quality. We wanted to fill that gap. We started at Yay Kyaw Carnival (Pwel Zay) in 2016. We were parking and selling at the front of Cinema that time. With the support from our customers, Mobicorn is now available via 7 brand outlets, over 50 point of sales. 2 months ago, Mobicorn was listed at the City Mart and Market Place.

We specialize in coated popcorn which come in many varieties. We are currently having Caramel, Chocolate, Cheese and Cashew Nut popcorn. We are expanding our lineup and premium cookies and potato chips are available at the selected outlets.

Our production facility is located at the Dagon Seik Kan Township and currently employ over 40 people. Most of them came from outside of Yangon and over 60% is still studying or attending classes. I deploy what I have learn from my poly as well as the engineering experience gathered from my days in Singapore to run the factory.

5. What are the main challenges you face as a Myanmar manufacturers ?

It is either the lack of or poor infrastructure that we are facing here. Additional costs are incurred when there is a black out. Unstable electrical current cause our sensitive machines to spoil easily. The rest of the challenges such as staff can be solved working creatively and harder.

6. Are you exporting to other countries ?

We are now focusing to expand the reach in Myanmar. Once we fortify the distribution network locally we do have plan to expand in the region. In terms of quality and the product, we are confident to compete in international arena.

7. Do you have oversea Exports, Imports, Oversea Buyers and Trade Partners ?

We are now selling the overseas customers via word of mouth. We have buyers from Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. In terms of pricing, we are really competitive from what is available there.
